Meet Upsider Shannon Burch, who moved to Georgia in 2002 after college to take a job as a special education teacher.
Shannon says she’s inspired by her 8-year-old daughter, Emerson. “In Jan 2020, her almost 2-year-old brother, Parker, was called to Heaven very unexpectedly. Emerson has been incredibly resilient and inspiring to those dealing with grief. After my son’s passing, we started a foundation named PWB Joy of Hope Foundation as a way to honor our son’s memory as we spread Joy and Hope to those in need within our community.”
Shannon says she’s motivated by family and she’s always trying to be the best version of herself to make those around her proud of who she is.
“A huge motivator for me is ensuring that PWB Joy of Hope Foundation makes an impact and the memory of Parker lives on. After he passed, my husband and I made the choice that we were going to choose happy.”
Shannon says the three traits that define her include loyalty, compassion, and courage.
