Today PWB Joy of Hope Foundation had the pleasure and honor to meet Travis Ellis, one of the founders of Shepherd’s Men, and Jackie Breitenstein, SHARE Military Initiative and Complex Concussion Clinic Program Manager at the Shepherd Center.
With the help of our amazing PWB community we had the privilege of preparing welcome baskets for the brave and honorable service men and women who will be receiving care at the Shepherd Center in Atlanta.
The SHARE Military Initiative is a comprehensive program that focuses on assessment and treatment for service men and women who have sustained a mild to moderate traumatic brain injury (TBI), along with co-occurring PTSD or other mental health concerns (such as depression or anxiety), from service in post-9/11 conflicts.
SHARE Military Initiative provides assistance, support and education to service members and their families during their recovery treatment and beyond.
Shepherd’s Men have just recently completed a $676,000 renovation on 17 apartments adjacent to the Shepherd Center, that patients can live in while receiving rehabilitation treatments.
As a way to say, Thank You for your honorable service and we wish you nothing but the best in the days ahead while you are in therapy, we put together a welcome basket that consisted of the following: Chick-fil-a gift card, Nalgene water bottle, a puzzle, a word search puzzle book, various toiletry items such as toothpaste, toothbrush dental floss, nail clippers, nail files, chapstick, hand sanitizer, a bar of soap, shampoo, and shaving cream, and a few prepackaged snack items.
I hope you will take a few minutes to watch the following video https://vimeo.com/338288141 so that you can learn about the amazing impact that the SHARE Military Initiative has done for our American heroes!
